The main drivers included improving productivity and efficiency, improving repeatability and consistency of processes, increasing operations capacity, increasing operational agility and flexibility, reducing labor costs, and increasing speed of operations.
Healthcare providers say that the robots can help reduce costs, make operations more efficient and serve as a marketing tool to position hospitals as early adapters of futuristic technology.
The Florida Hospital Nicholson Center and Adventist University of Health Sciences are partnering with the STAN Institute in Nancy, France to launch the Basic Robotic Surgical Course. The multi-disciplinary, five-day course was designed to incorporate the safe acquisition of robotic surgical skills through the use of simulation & comprehensive robotic platform training.
A robot could soon be a regular member of the medical staff across the country, taking a patients pulse, scanning vital signs, taking pictures and even reading case notes. Then, this information is sent to a nurse practitioner or a physicians assistant, who can advise the doctor as to the patients condition.
How robotics and automation are helping to deliver resources and healthcare, medication, treatments, assisted living care to the elderly population-how robotics can monitor senior patients and communicate with clinicians etc.
In robotic surgical education and privileging, we led the development of a standard curriculum and testing device for surgeons learning to use the da Vinci robot. This is the Fundamentals of Robotic Surgery (FRS).
By Fraunhofer IPA via RoboHub: In January 2015, Fraunhofer IPA presented a prototype of the “Care-O-bot 4” service robot. The charming helper is now proving its worth in the real world. “Paul” the robot has been greeting customers in Saturn-Markt Ingolstadt since the end of October 2016 and directing them towards their desired products.
Care-O-bot 4, alias Paul, approaches Saturn customers and welcomes them to the store. If they ask him about a certain product, he accompanies the customer to the department and points them in the direction of the relevant shelf. As he indulges in small talk about the weather, or another subject, Paul turns out to be a most charming contact partner. However, he prefers to leave actual customer service to his human colleagues. Paul is able to call another member of staff for support via “Voice over IP”. Before Paul bids a fond farewell and returns to the store entrance, he still has time to ask for feedback. In this way, he discovers whether customers appreciated the interaction or not. Martin Wild, Chief Digital Officer at Media-Saturn-Holding: “With Paul, we are offering our customers the opportunity to get to know one of the most advanced robots in the world.” Cont'd...
The devices and technology enhance the capabilities of a human surgeon allowing them to perform better than they can "free hand," and potentially allow them to remain active for many more years than has been typical in the past.
The surgical robot device market was estimated to be $3.2 billion in 2014 and forecast to reach $20 billion by 2021 as next generation devices, systems and instruments are introduced to manage surgery through small ports in the body instead of large open wounds.
REIKU's Cable Saverâ„¢ Solution eliminates downtime, loss of revenue, expensive cable and hose replacement costs, maintenance labor costs. It's available in three sizes 36, 52 and 70 mm.
All of the robots cables and hoses are protected when routed through the Cable Saverâ„¢ corrugated tubing. The Cable Saverâ„¢ uses a spring retraction system housed inside the Energy Tubeâ„¢ to keep this service loop out of harms way in safe location at the rear of the Robot when not required. The Cable Saverâ„¢ is a COMPLETE solution for any make or model of robot. It installs quickly-on either side of the robot and has been tested to resist over 15 million repetitive cycles.
REIKU is committed to providing the most modular, effective options for ensuring your robotic components operate without downtime due to cable management.
